We danced to Ian Cruikshanks Band from 8:00 until Midnight. Tickets went on sale at the classes from mid-October. Drinks and nibbles made the dance rather social before the start of the dance from 7:30pm. The raffle made a good sum of money which we gave to the RSCDS HQ norminated charity - Guide Dogs for the Blind. One of our committee members is a keen member of the local Branch and she brought along some gifts to sell from the Guide Dogs for the Blind and as an "ahhh" factor, a 7 month old puppy in training. The puppy left before the dancing! Weekend Away 2003 We had a weekend in Blairgowrie organised for September 2003 and 64 members of the branch danced from dawn to dusk at the Blair Athol Hotel in Blairgowrie. Back to Top Teaching Certificate Class 2003 We are always encouraging those who are interested to take their Teaching Certificate. This is taken in two stages (Preliminary followed by Full) with at least 1 year in between the examinations for teaching practice. We ran a Preliminary Certificate Class in 1998 and last Autumn and this Spring we ran a Full Certificate Class with nine potential teachers from the area attending. Both Teachers and candidates worked very hard attending classes on Sunday afternoons with homework inbetween and took their three part examination in March 2003. The written paper was on one weekend, and the following weekend they danced for the examiners on the Friday evening and on the Saturday took "classes" of 20 minutes to show their teaching abilities. We asked members of the branch to act as "stooges" for the classes and those that kindly agreed, were allocated a morning or afternoon slot - which was exhausting! Happily, all the hard work of the teachers and candidates paid off , and all nine were successful - congratulations to: Pam Dignam, Morag Barclay, Brian Anderson, Jennifer Moir, Isabel McMillan, Judith Riddoch, Bill Fyfe and the two ladies from the Stonehaven Branch. Isabel is celebrating her success with a newly formed children's class at St Joseph's school which we were very pleased to offer her. Back to Home Page
